General Considerations for Front Gear: Front Pins for all 1630 Long Arms should be 25 1/2" above ground. Rear Pins for all 1630 Long Arms should be 12 3/4" above ground. Spring hanger (rear pin) should not be further than 6" ahead of front axle. The longer the arm, the more likely it is to clear obstructions below truck frame rail. The longer the arm, the longer the frame extension, and the stronger the extension needs to be. Typical obstructions for front gear are cooling equipment that extends below the frame and pitman arms that hit the rail wheel in highway position.
